Church of Misery - artists - JaME Canada

Church of Misery are one of the most famous doom-metal bands in Japan. Their music very often reminds of the founders of this style: Black Sabbath, but there are also similarities to the well known american band St. Vitus that was active since the mid 80s.

Their songs are about serial killers like Charles Manson, Ted Bundy or Charles Whitman. Their names appear after the songnames to indicate which one was meant by the lyrics. On the other hand the band is quite famous for their cover versions of well known songs like In a gadda da vida by Iron Butterfly.

At their concerts, the band sometimes starts to jam for many minutes. Some of these live jamsessions even appeared on CDs and had a duration of about 20 minutes. Their present singer additionally plays on a synthesizer from time to time, also it’s obvious that he was in a punk band before, because of his live behaviour.
